How to build a routine that sticks
- Pick the moment that needs structure most: usually the morning, the start of work or bedtime.
- Start from a template and delete anything you won't really do. Four steps you do beat ten you skip.
- Give each step honest minutes. The builder shows when the routine really ends.
- Choose the days. Weekend mornings rarely look like Tuesday mornings.
- Add it to your calendar so it has a place in your day, then adjust after a week.
Make it easy to start
Tie the first step to something you already do every day: after the coffee is on, after you sit at your desk, after you brush your teeth. The existing habit becomes the cue for the new one.
Keep a short version for bad days, just the first one or two steps. Doing the small version keeps the routine alive; skipping it entirely is how routines quietly end.
Questions
How does "Add to Google Calendar" work?
It opens Google Calendar with a new event already filled in: the routine's name, its start and end time, the days it repeats on and every step in the description. Check it and click Save.
Is my routine saved?
Yes, in this browser, so it is there when you come back on the same device. Nothing is sent to a server.
Can I build more than one routine?
Yes: build one, add it to your calendar or print it, then pick another template and build the next. The builder keeps the one you are working on.
