Looking for a Todoist alternative? Here’s when Rotyn fits

What Rotyn focuses on

Rotyn is built around one question: what am I doing today? Your tasks, your routines and your Google Calendar events are on one screen, so you plan around the meetings you already have instead of keeping a separate list next to the calendar.

The main differences

• Scope: Rotyn is made for one person’s day and week. It has no shared projects or team workspaces, which Todoist offers.
• Calendar: Rotyn shows your Google Calendar events next to your tasks, read-only. It never writes to your calendar.
• Routines and rituals: recurring tasks, a one-minute Plan my day and a weekly review are built in (Rotyn Pro).
• Pricing model: both have a free plan and a paid subscription. Rotyn Pro is $39 a year in the US, with lower prices in many countries, and new accounts get Pro free for 14 days without a card.
• Platforms: both run on the web, phones and computers. Rotyn’s desktop app for Windows and Mac is part of Pro.

When Todoist is the better choice

If you manage shared projects, delegate tasks to other people or depend on many integrations with other tools, Todoist is likely the better fit. Rotyn deliberately stays smaller.

Switching

Rotyn doesn’t import from other apps. Most people start by adding this week’s tasks and the routines they really repeat, which doubles as a clean-up. You can export everything from Rotyn at any time.
